At Infineon, we combine entrepreneurial success with responsible action to make life easier, safer, and greener. Barely visible, semiconductors have become an indispensable part of everyday life. We play a key role in shaping a better future – with microelectronics that link the real and the digital world. Our semiconductors enable efficient energy management, smart mobility, as well as secure, seamless communications in an increasingly connected world. Infineon designs, develops, manufactures and markets a broad range of semiconductors and system solutions. The focus of its activities is on automotive and industrial electronics, communication and information technologies, IoT, sensor technology and security. The product range comprises standard components, software, customer-specific solutions for devices and systems, as well as specific components for digital, analog, and mixed-signal applications.
The product range of the involved PSS (Power & Sensor Systems) department covers: 3D ToF sensors; control ICs for power switches; chips for pressure sensors; chips for MEMS microphones; chips for gas sensors; discrete low-voltage, mid-voltage and high-voltage power MOSFETs (Si-based); GaN power switches; GPS low-noise amplifier; RF antenna switches; RF power transistors; customized chips (ASICs); low-voltage and high-voltage driver ICs; radar sensor ICs (24 GHz, 60 GHz); TVS (transient voltage suppressor) diode; SiC diodes, SiC MOSFETs; USB controller

Role in the project
Infineon Austria is Listen2Future project coordinator and leader of the three Work Packages (WPs): WP3 (Next generation Electronics for the intelligent Acoustic Signal & Data Processing Chain), WP8 (Project Management) and WP9 (Ethics).
In this project Infineon Austria is developing the next generation of acoustic sensorics components, thus addressing two foundational technology layers:
- Process technology, equipment, materials and manufacturing and
- Components, modules and system integration. The developed components are implemented in some of Listen2Future use cases in Health and Digital industry application areas.
Key contribution to the project
In Listen2Future, Infineon is working on ultrasound transducers and piezo-based MEMS microphones based on advanced piezoelectric thin film material that will be also developed within the project. At Infineon Austria we are focusing on Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) that is used as a driving unit for MEMS sensor and as the signal conditioning unit including A/D conversion of measured analogue sensor signal. The main target is to develop ASIC with lower power consumption, area optimization and high sound quality. With this capability of new generations of acoustic MEMS sensors will be optimally exploited and increasing requirement of various applications will be fulfilled.
